Requirements For Flower
and Horticultural Entries
Please Read the Following Information Carefully. Failure to
Follow These Guidelines May Cause Rejection of your entry.
Registration
Friday evening from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Saturday from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.
Each exhibit MUST be identified by class and subclass prior
to registration in order to speed the registration process.
Each
exhibitor is limited to one entry per class.
Material For Design Class
Exhibitors are asked to name all materials used in design
arrangements.
An arrangement implies the use of any plant material, a
container, and the base on which it stands, if appropriate.
No artificial foliage or flowers are permitted in any class,
unless otherwise noted.
Commercial material will be accepted for design classes.
Designs are judged on condition of material, suitable
containers, overall balance, color and adherence to the
theme of the year for each class.
As accessories, or part of the arrangement, fruits and
vegetables are permitted in all artistic design classes.
Containers
Exhibitors need to supply containers for all horticulture
specimens.
Display
Covered tables and shelves for entries will be provided.
The Haddam Neck Fair will make every effort to care for all
exhibits, but cannot be held responsible for damage or loss.
Artistic Design Classes “Gardens of the World”
We hope that the designers research some of the these listed
gardens of world out of interest and for inspiration
Premiums 1st $5.00 2nd $3.00 3rd $2.00
Class I Pavilion Gardens An arrangement using all white
flowers
Class II The Bonnefont Cloister Herb Garden An arrangement
using all herbs in a suitable container
Class III Boxwood Garden Children’s class decoration create
a face using greens and flowers. May be mounted on oasis
or a vegetable of choice or inspiration.
Class IV Giverny A mass flower arrangement. Single or mixed
flowers in pleasing color combinations in a suitable
container.
Class V Morikami Gardens A Japanese Ikebana arrangement
incorporating the elements of this flower arrangement style.
Class VI New York Botanical Gardens Miniature arrangement
not to exceed six (6) inches overall, height and width.
Class VII Boston Public Gardens An arrangement using 7
different types of foliage only.
Class VIII The Parterre A level surface arrangement
resembling “pavement,” using flowers in a pleasing design.
The design placement of the flowers becomes an ornament in
itself.
Class IX Tuileries A obelisk design using either herbs,
flowers, or vegetables, or a combination of all three. This
is a pillar
arrangement.
Class X Jardin de Bagtelle A wreath using greens and roses
for the design.
